Busy, Busy

I have been busy sewing up a storm, more pictures to follow.
This window casing is very shallow so the roman shade was installed on the exterior of the window, still showing off the beautiful moulding.  See price list.

Where to Shop?!

Fabric/Shopping Information

I try to make it as simple as possible for the client by supplying the lining; you have the choice of “Dim-out”, “Black-out” or a cotton/poly drapery lining. I also supply all roman shade hardware and grommets are included in the quote given.

Be sure to choose fabrics in the “Drapery” section, also sheers can be used.  SOME other fabrics can be used, consult a sales associate at the store.

Most fabrics are 54”-55” wide; the quantity of fabric I suggest to buy is based on these widths.  Please re-calculate quantity needed for double width (110”) or widths other than 54”-55”.  *If you bring the “Quote” sheet, window measurements are listed and the ladies at the fabric store should be able to do this for you, if not just send me an email or phone call and I can let you know what you need.

Also consider when choosing a stripe if it is in the direction (vertical or horizontal) that you want.

Here is a list of Ottawa fabric stores.  Fabricland has a large selection and sells less expensive fabrics.  All the other fabric stores listed here have several price ranges (med-high) and a very large selection of beautiful fabrics.

Fairwinds, Kanata #2

Client purchased the center panel, it was sheer but the pattern was not visible in the sunlight.  I added a brown coloured ("Black-out") panel to the back and grommets, now the center curtain is a perfect match with her exsisting brown drapes.  See "Price List" posted Sept.2

This curtain is lined with "black-out" and has mini-grommets to give a more modern look.
Magnetic rod was installed in 5 seconds!  See "Price List" posted Sept.2

For complete privacy this roman shade also doubles as "Art" on the wall!

Client Reviews

Annie did an outstanding job with our outdoor project! We worked as a team making ideas a reality, which was only possible due to her amazing problem solving skills, intuitive thinking and professional sewing skills. I can’t imagine a project she wouldn’t be able to finish without great customer satisfaction! She helped us finish our outdoor oasis giving us a beautiful dining area! Thanks Annie

I had an ordinary blind in my kitchen window and a bare patio door that I never knew what to do with.  Annie was great at helping me choose the design and fabric that went well with my décor but was still “my style”.

We love our roman shades!  One day we forgot to close the window, it was wide open all day (the blind was down). The roman shade actually retained the heat between it and the window, the house didn't get hot at all, and it was quite amazing. You could put your hand up behind the blind and it had to be at least 10 degrees difference! It was quite neat.

I couldn't find anything in store that either fit our windows or looked "like us".  I was able to provide Annie with my window measurements by email (I live just outside of Toronto).  She calculated how much fabric I would need.  I purchased the fabric and shipped it to her.  Everything looks great and fits our size windows perfectly!

Pergola

I made this pergola canopy with a water proof canvas in black.  The "netting" is a cream coloured sheer fabric you would normaly see used for curtains, definitly more elegant than mosquito screen.  The black lace panels add a custom designer look!

Fabricland

Have you ever been to Fabricland?  It is fabulous, I could spend hours there.  Check out there "Sale" section in the drapery department, what great deals...$3.00-$5.00-$16.00 a meter!  They always have a great selection.

Do you already know what you want?  It's as easy as emailing me your window dimensions, you can mail or I can pick up the fabric you have chosen.

Don't know where to start?  I can come to your home, show you my samples and discuss the "purpose" of the window treatment.  I will take measurements for you and we can even make a trip to the fabric store together.

Roman shades may cost more to have made but it will cost less in fabric (than a full drape) and you don't need to buy a curtain rod.  All "hardware" is included in the price.

Please supply the colour of thread to match with the fabric you have chosen (unless black or white).

Want a real custom look?  Buy extra fabric for some cushions (don't forget a zipper for easy cleaning), maybe some fringe, ribbon or buttons to complete the look!

If emailing me, please put "custom drapery" in the subject.  anniemcdougall@hotmail.com
